Has Magic: The Gathering ever been as popular as it is right now? With the game’s ever-growing roster of Universes Beyond crossovers pulling in fresh players, Amazon has rolled out early price cuts on MTG Play Booster Boxes — including the upcoming Star Trek box at 26% off, weeks before it even launches.

MTG Amazon Sale: Best Play Booster Box Deals Before Black Friday
These are Play Booster Boxes (30 packs), not Collector Boosters — the cheaper boxes aimed at players building collections rather than chasing the priciest pulls. That caveat aside, the discounts IGN spotted are genuinely strong. The Star Trek Play Booster Box, which hasn’t even launched yet, is already discounted by 26%.
Marvel fans get two options. The Marvel Spider-Man Play Booster Box — which IGN calls “not a great set” but notes has some cool cards — is down from $209.70 to $134.95 for 30 packs. The better-received Marvel Super Heroes set from June has dropped from the same MSRP to $149.99. Looking ahead, anyone eyeing next year’s Darkhold Destiny set can grab both Spider-Man and Super Heroes boxes at these prices.
The Hobbit, Avatar and More MTG Discounts
The Hobbit Play Booster Box has fallen to $161.93, a 23% discount — a solid way to chase Smaug, Gollum, Bilbo and the dwarves, with a box topper included. Discounts are also live on the Avatar: The Last Airbender boxes and other Universes Beyond sets. With Black Friday still to come, these early cuts are worth grabbing if you’re building a collection rather than waiting for deeper discounts.
