Here’s a deal worth grabbing: Cormac McCarthy’s The Road is on sale for just $1.99 on Kindle at Amazon, as spotted by IGN. That is a steal for one of the greatest American novels of the century.

The Road tells the story of a father and his son trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic America scorched of nearly all other life. It is McCarthy at his most readable — short, fragmented sections, spare punctuation, and a tone unlike anything else in modern fiction.
The Road Kindle Deal
While McCarthy’s Blood Meridian is often considered his masterpiece, The Road is the book to start with: a simpler survival story that is easy to follow, with characters you can root for even when a major victory is just finding unopened canned food in an abandoned cellar.
The novel won the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for fiction and was adapted into a film starring Viggo Mortensen — but as IGN notes, the book is far better. Other McCarthy classics include No Country for Old Men and All the Pretty Horses.
At $1.99 on Kindle via Amazon, there has rarely been a cheaper time to pick it up. Note that the source does not state when the sale ends, so if you have been meaning to read it, do not wait too long.
