Penta was a bundle of nerves before his World Heavyweight Championship match against Roman Reigns on the September 14 edition of WWE Raw. In a new interview with Busted Open Radio, he recalled a day packed with so much chaos that he only processed it two days later.

Penta’s Stressful Day Before The Roman Reigns Match
The stakes were already enormous — first time ever against Roman Reigns, in Mexico City, with his family in the crowd. Then the logistics started falling apart. Penta’s planned arrival shot featured a horse, but two to three hours before the match, problems emerged: the horse might not arrive, might be delayed. On top of that came a flood of obligations — interviews, a meet and greet, makeup, rehearsing his ring entrance. “Everything is on my brain,” he recalled. “I become crazy in that moment.”
Two days after the match, sitting in his garden, he finally sat with it all: “Wow.” But in the chaos, he also found joy — especially in his entrance presentation using the penacho, a traditional Mexican headdress. “Everything was rushed but at the end of the day, it was perfect.”
What Penta Learned From Facing Roman Reigns
Despite the loss, fans widely argue Penta emerged from the match as a new main-event player for WWE. Penta himself credited Reigns with a masterclass: “I learned a lot facing Roman Reigns. To be honest, I know now why he is one of the best wrestlers or the best wrestler in the universe. The character, the Shakespeare — every move you can breathe, you can enjoy every move.”
He described the in-ring moment as electric: staring at the Big Dog, looking him in the eye, with the entire crowd behind him. “Everything was so special and magic.”
