The WWE Women’s Championship will be on the line this Friday on SmackDown, as Chelsea Green defends her title against Roxanne Perez. The announcement came from SmackDown general manager Nick Aldis on Wednesday, setting up a high-stakes rematch just weeks after Perez pinned the champion.

The two women already have history. Perez scored a pinfall victory over Green in a non-title bout on the October 12 episode of WWE Raw, and now she gets the real prize on the line. Green has leaned on her cunning to keep the championship since winning it, but Perez — a two-time NXT Women’s Champion — is one of the most decorated young stars in the company.
A Stacked SmackDown Card Takes Shape
The women’s title bout headlines an already loaded card for the October 23 edition of SmackDown. Also announced: the WWE Women’s Tag Team Championship, with champions Tatum Paxley and Alexa Bliss defending against B-Fab and Michin, plus Bakusai (Shinsuke Nakamura and Kyoki) taking on The MFT (Tama Tonga and Talla Tonga).
With Judgment Day’s Perez getting her title shot on the blue brand, questions are swirling about whether her faction allies will play a role in the finish. Green’s championship reign has been defined by narrow escapes, and a faction like Judgment Day circling the match could spell trouble.
What’s at Stake for Roxanne Perez
A win would make Perez a triple-crown-level talent before her 25th birthday, adding the WWE Women’s Championship to her pair of NXT Women’s titles. For Green, retaining would cement one of the most underrated title reigns of the year — proof that “the Karen of WWE” can hang with the division’s elite.
SmackDown airs Friday at 8 PM ET, and the WWE Women’s Championship picture will look very different by night’s end.
