Indi Hartwell wants her TNA Knockouts Championship victory to mean something bigger than herself. The Australian star says she looks forward to inspiring the next generation of Australian wrestlers — because when she was growing up, there were barely any Australians on television to look up to.
Indi Hartwell inspiring Australian wrestlers message comes after her title win at TNA Bound for Glory on October 11, where she captured the Knockouts Championship for the first time in her TNA run. It was the culmination of a long road back after leaving WWE nearly two years ago.

Speaking to Joey Karni, Hartwell described her journey as a roller coaster. “There’s a lot of ups. There’s a lot of downs. I had a lot of downs in the past few years, especially from the last Bound for Glory up until now, just working my way back to getting an opportunity like this to finally win the Knockouts title,” she said.
“I just kind of think that everything happens for a reason. All the bad days come for good, good reasons, you know? So yeah, everything has been a learning experience. I think it’s coming up on two years since I’ve been gone from WWE, and I’m really happy with everything that I’ve done and everything that I’ve achieved.”
First Australian TNA Knockouts Champion Wants More Aussies to Break Out
What makes the win historic is its significance back home. “It’s pretty crazy to think about because when I talk about my journey in wrestling and when I try to inspire people that they can do what they set out to achieve — I’m a girl from Australia who made it all the way over here, and now I’m the first TNA Knockouts world champion,” Hartwell said.
“When I was younger watching wrestling, watching WWE and TNA, there weren’t any Australians on TV, and now we have so many, we have so many Australian champions. So I’m just so proud of the Aussies and I hope more Aussies can make it, break out and make it over here.”
That is the legacy Hartwell wants to build as champion: not just title defences, but a door held open for the next Australian kid watching wrestling at home and daring to believe they could do it too.
