Indi Hartwell’s brief return to WWE NXT gave her something she never got when she was released: a proper goodbye. The TNA star has opened up about her October 6 return, sharing the ring with fellow Australian Zaria, and the sense of closure that came with it.
Indi Hartwell WWE NXT return Zaria moment came during a number one contenders battle royal for the NXT Women’s Championship, featuring several TNA names. Wren Sinclair eventually won the match, but for Hartwell, the night was about far more than the result.

Indi Hartwell Found Closure in Her NXT Return
Speaking to Joey Karni, Hartwell admitted she had been nervous about how the crowd would receive her. “I think I was so happy and smiley because I was kind of worried that the audience wouldn’t remember me, or not that they wouldn’t remember me, but that they wouldn’t care anymore because the business moves fast and a lot has happened in NXT since I was there,” she said.
That worry proved unfounded — and the return gave her something priceless. “I guess it did give me a sense of closure. I was able to talk with old coaches and producers and people that I worked with there because when you get released, you don’t get to say bye to some people.”
The timing also mattered. The NXT appearance built momentum going into Bound for Glory, where Hartwell would go on to capture the TNA Knockouts Championship on October 11.
Indi Hartwell vs Zaria: Two Aussies Share the NXT Ring
One moment stood out above the rest: sharing the ring with Zaria. “I got to have a moment with Zaria in the ring, which was cool. Her and I have never ever crossed paths before. So yeah, two Aussies facing off in NXT ring on TV, I think is pretty special.”
For Australian wrestling fans, that crossing of paths was a milestone in itself — two homegrown talents, on one of wrestling’s biggest weekly stages, representing a country that once had almost no presence on televised wrestling at all.
