New Japan Pro-Wrestling has locked in the first major date of its 2027 calendar, confirming that New Year Dash 2027 will take place on January 5, 2027 at the EBARA WAVE Arena Ota in Tokyo — the traditional night-after follow-up to the company’s biggest show of the year.

NJPW New Year Dash 2027 Date and Venue Confirmed
The announcement follows the long-standing NJPW tradition: Wrestle Kingdom takes over the Tokyo Dome, and New Year Dash picks up the pieces the very next night. Wrestle Kingdom 21 is set for January 4, 2027, at the Tokyo Dome, with New Year Dash now confirmed for January 5. NJPW also announced changes to the fan club pre-sale and general on-sale dates for the Ota show, with ticket details released alongside the confirmation.
New Year Dash has earned a reputation as one of NJPW’s most unpredictable nights of the year. Freed from the pressure of the Dome, the show is where new feuds ignite, surprise returns happen, and the fallout from Wrestle Kingdom’s biggest matches reshapes the company’s direction for the months ahead.
Kenny Omega’s Wrestle Kingdom 21 Title Chase Heats Up
The road to the Dome is already heating up. Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Kenny Omega is back in New Japan and aiming to win the belt back at Wrestle Kingdom. First, he is scheduled for a non-title three-way match at Power Struggle on November 3 against Oleg Boltin and reigning IWGP Heavyweight Champion Yota Tsuji. If Omega wins that match, he earns the title shot against Tsuji at Wrestle Kingdom 21.
Whatever happens under the Dome lights on January 4, all eyes will turn to Ota the next night, where New Year Dash 2027 will set the tone for NJPW’s new year.
