The Harsh Reality Of Being Han So Hee's Manager

Being a K-drama star’s manager might look like a dream job from the outside, but one former manager of Han So Hee has revealed the harsh reality behind the glamour — a life of almost no sleep, endless waiting on set, and stress that eventually drove him out of the industry altogether.

Han So Hee’s Former Manager Reveals 7 Hours of Sleep a Week

The story came to light on SBS Power FM’s Cultwo Show, where comedians Nam Ho Yeon and Kim Seung Jin appeared as special guests. During a conversation about street-casting actors, a listener called in and shared his history working in the entertainment industry. He said he spent years casting actors on the street before working as an actor manager for four to five years — and revealed that the last actor he managed was none other than Han So Hee, during her time filming the historical drama 100 Days My Prince.

The host noted how difficult the job of an actor-manager is, with long hours spent simply waiting around every day. The caller then revealed the shocking toll it took: getting enough sleep was a huge challenge, and if he could manage seven hours of sleep in an entire week, that would feel like a lot. Managers, he explained, must follow their actors to every shoot, filming additional behind-the-scenes videos and handling countless tasks along the way.

Why Han So Hee’s Manager Quit the Entertainment Industry

The former manager said he eventually left the job because he struggled to adjust to the stressful work pattern — and he was far from alone. Many of his friends in the industry also wanted to quit, he said, painting a picture of a profession where burnout is common even as the stars themselves shine.

Han So Hee, who has since become one of Korea’s most in-demand actresses with acclaimed roles in dramas such as The World of the Married, Nevertheless and My Name, was still early in her rise when the caller managed her on 100 Days My Prince. The anecdote is a reminder that behind every polished on-screen performance is a team working punishing hours — and that the people keeping a star’s schedule running often pay a steep personal price for it.
