Wrestling Open Rhode Island could host its final weekly event on December 28, unless attendance rises or new sponsors step in. Beyond Wrestling shared the warning with fans on Monday, laying out the future of the brand in unusually frank terms.

The brand first launched in March 2025 and has built a Monday-night home at the Rhodes On The Pawtuxet in Cranston. Now, with its venue contract running to the end of 2026, its future beyond this year is far from certain.

Wrestling Open Rhode Island Future in Doubt

In a statement from Drew Cordeiro, Beyond Wrestling explained that November will serve as an evaluation period. If Monday-night crowds do not grow significantly, December 28, 2026 will be the final weekly Wrestling Open RI event at its current home.

Cordeiro urged fans who enjoy the shows to spread the word, bring friends, and share event posts on social media. He also invited potential sponsors to get in touch for detailed information about backing the series, pointing to sponsorship revenue as one of the two paths that could keep the brand alive.

There is still a glimmer of hope even if attendance does not surge. Cordeiro noted that Beyond Wrestling could still negotiate a new rental agreement for 2027, meaning December 28 is not necessarily the absolute end. For now, though, fans should treat the coming weeks as decisive.

Why Rhodes On The Pawtuxet Matters to Wrestling Open RI

Cordeiro did not hide his affection for the venue, calling Rhodes On The Pawtuxet the nicest venue Beyond Wrestling has ever run, with more fan amenities than anywhere else on its circuit. Losing it, he suggested, would be a real shame, especially while Rhode Island continues to spend heavily to attract new sports to the state.

His closing message framed the promotion as the local home team, a line that will resonate with the loyal crowd that has turned up for 73 episodes so far. Monday’s show marked episode 73 of Wrestling Open RI, a milestone that shows how quickly the brand became a weekly habit for its audience.

Independent wrestling lives and dies on exactly this kind of support. Ticket sales, word of mouth and local sponsorship are the lifeblood of a weekly series, and Beyond Wrestling has now made the maths public. Fans who want the shows to continue into 2027 have a clear, time-limited way to help: show up in November, bring someone new, and keep the conversation going online.

Whether that push is enough will become clear over the next few weeks. Until then, every Monday night at Rhodes On The Pawtuxet carries a little extra weight, as Wrestling Open RI fights to earn its place in 2027.
