Yasushi Baba’s Itsuwari no Kenta manga will end on November 26, when the next issue of Kodansha’s Monthly Shonen Sirius magazine arrives. The announcement came in the magazine’s December issue, bringing a surprisingly short run to a close.

The series only began in December 2025, which means its entire magazine run lasted less than a full year. Kodansha shipped the second compiled book volume on October 8, so readers who want to follow the story to its conclusion will likely be looking to a final collected volume after the last chapter appears.
What Is Itsuwari no Kenta About?
The story follows novice adventurer Ren, who finds himself defending a spirit and its forgotten shrine from demons. He is not alone in that fight: a sacred beast unicorn stands beside him, giving the fantasy setup its distinctive twist.
As Ren and the spirit face down their enemies, the pair are pushed to the brink of death. It is in that desperate moment that inspiration strikes the spirit, setting up the kind of turning point that has driven the series’ fantasy adventure.
The title itself translates to The Fake Centaur, a name that hints at the playful, creature-filled world Baba has built around Ren’s journey. While the run has been brief, the premise has given the manga a clear identity in a crowded shonen magazine lineup.
Yasushi Baba’s Recent Work
The ending of Itsuwari no Kenta comes just days after Baba wrapped up another series. He ended The Ride-On King on October 24, a series that had been running in Monthly Shonen Sirius since May 2018.
That longer-running title had built up a much larger back catalogue over its eight-year run, and it was previously licensed by the now-defunct publisher Sol Press, which released only its first volume in July 2019.
Before that, Baba ended his Golosseum manga in December 2017. Kodansha USA Publishing has released that six-volume series in North America, giving English-language readers another way into his work.
With two series ending in quick succession, fans will now be watching to see what Baba plans next. For now, the final chapter of Itsuwari no Kenta on November 26 will close the book on Ren, the spirit, and the sacred beast unicorn.
