CL could soon have a new home, as THEBLACKLABEL confirmed on October 28 that the agency is in talks to sign the 2NE1 leader to an exclusive contract.

The label issued a short statement confirming the discussions, saying it is currently discussing the signing of an exclusive contract with CL. No deal has been finalised yet, and neither side has shared further details about the timing or terms of a potential agreement.
CL THEBLACKLABEL Talks Reunite Her With Teddy
If the deal goes through, it would mark a notable reunion. CL worked closely with producer Teddy during her years at YG Entertainment, where he shaped much of 2NE1’s signature sound. Teddy now leads THEBLACKLABEL, the agency he founded after leaving YG.
CL debuted as a member of 2NE1 in 2009 and went on to become one of K-pop’s most recognisable leaders, fronting hits that helped take the group global. She left YG Entertainment in 2019 and later set up her own agency, Very Cherry, through which she has managed her solo work.
THEBLACKLABEL Roster Already Includes YG Alumni
THEBLACKLABEL’s current roster already reads like a reunion of YG alumni. It includes BIGBANG’s Taeyang and BLACKPINK’s Rosé, alongside Jeon Somi, MEOVV and ALLDAY PROJECT. Adding CL would strengthen that line-up further and put another second-generation icon under the same roof as Teddy.
For fans, the appeal is obvious. A CL comeback under THEBLACKLABEL could open the door to new solo music produced with the collaborator behind some of her biggest moments, while 2NE1’s recent reunion activity has already shown there is still huge appetite for the group’s legacy.
For now, though, the word from the agency is deliberately careful: talks are under way, and nothing is signed. Fans will be watching closely for an official confirmation, and for what a new chapter at THEBLACKLABEL could mean for CL’s next era.
