Orange Cassidy has explained the logic behind one of wrestling’s most famous looks: why he wrestles in denim jeans. Speaking on The Rizzuto Show, the AEW star said he genuinely does not understand why other wrestlers would choose anything else.
The jeans, usually paired with a denim jacket on his way to the ring, have become a trademark. While most performers opt for tights or trunks, Cassidy leans into the laid-back image — and insists there is a practical reason behind it.

Cassidy called denim the most comfortable and durable fabric available, a straightforward answer that fits his no-nonsense character perfectly. For a performer known for doing as little as possible in the ring, choosing gear that can take punishment without fuss makes sense.
He also revealed a small but telling detail: instead of a belt, he uses a drawstring when he wrestles in jeans. A belt rubbing against his stomach mid-match, he argued, is something no wrestler should put up with — and he finds it baffling that anyone does.

The look is more than a gimmick. Cassidy’s denim, sunglasses and hands-in-pockets style helped make him one of AEW’s most recognisable stars, turning apparent laziness into a deliberate, beloved persona.
In the same interview, Cassidy also discussed the worst injury of his career, a broken orbital bone — a reminder that behind the comedy and the casual gear is a performer who has taken plenty of real punishment. But when it comes to ring attire, his verdict is settled: the future is denim.
