Rockstar has turned one of Grand Theft Auto’s most beloved memes into a real gameplay feature. GTA 6 will let players summon their vehicle through an app called Scooter Brothers, a direct nod to the viral GTA 4 scooter brothers meme from 2008. The GTA 6 Scooter Brothers mechanic was confirmed in a new preview from Edge magazine.

The meme began in 2008, when a Justin.tv channel called FourPlayerPodcast made GTA history. Host Brad Simons rode a moped around GTA 4’s Liberty City, found another moped rider, and began comically declaring them “scooter brothers.” The clip has since racked up more than 7.5 million views on YouTube, and now its spirit lives on inside GTA 6 itself.
GTA 6 Scooter Brothers Mechanic: How Vehicle Summoning Works
According to the preview, players will be able to summon their vehicle using the in-game Scooter Brothers app. An NPC will then deliver your car, hop on a scooter, presumably driven by another “brother,” and drive off. Whether these scooter brothers will get their own silly voice lines to honour the meme’s origins remains to be seen, but fans are already hoping Rockstar leans into the joke.
Rockstar has nodded to the meme before. In GTA 5, switching to Trevor could randomly catch the character recreating the bit with a frightened NPC. This time, though, the reference has a real purpose rather than being a throwaway gag.
Why Scooter Brothers Matters for GTA 6 Gameplay
GTA Online has let players call their car since launch, and Red Dead Redemption allows horse summoning within a reasonable distance, but this is the first time single-player GTA will offer the feature without cheats. It matters more than ever here, because the player’s arsenal of weapons and other important gear is stored in the trunk of their vehicle, meaning cars likely will not be as disposable as they were in previous games.
The reveal lands just three weeks ahead of GTA 6’s launch, with pre-loading set to begin in two weeks, as Rockstar’s marketing push ramps up worldwide. Rumours also point to a PC version arriving in early 2027. Either way, the Scooter Brothers app is a perfect example of Rockstar rewarding nearly two decades of fan culture.
