Chris Sutton's Premier League Week 8 Predictions Take On Arsenal Fan John Hannah After Fleetwood Shocker

Premier League champions Arsenal endured one of the most embarrassing nights in their history when they were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two side Fleetwood Town on Tuesday — and now they face a huge test at Anfield on Sunday. This week’s battle of the predictions sees BBC Sport football expert Chris Sutton take on actor John Hannah, star of the new action thriller Bad Day At The Office, who just happens to be a lifelong Gooner.

“Arsenal put a pretty strong team out but were humiliated by Fleetwood, and at Highbury too,” Sutton said, rubbing salt into the wound. “Liverpool seem to be getting it together so this will be a big test for Mikel Arteta’s side after the week they have had.”

Sutton vs John Hannah: Week Eight Premier League Predictions

Sutton is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, facing off against AI, BBC Sport readers and a variety of celebrity guests. For week eight, his challenger is John Hannah, best known for Four Weddings and a Funeral, Sliding Doors and The Mummy.

Hannah has been an Arsenal fan since he moved to London from Scotland more than 40 years ago. Growing up in East Kilbride, he dreamed of becoming a footballer before acting took over. “I’d like to compare myself to Bukayo Saka,” Hannah joked. “I played on the right wing and I was quite small and fast and I scored a lot of goals.”

The Scot, who counts Rangers legend Ally McCoist among his childhood friends, admitted his playing days are behind him after snapping his ACL: “It is really just cycling and running for me now.”

Bad Day At The Office Hits Cinemas October 30

Hannah’s new film Bad Day At The Office, filmed mostly from a first-person perspective using GoPro cameras, follows a man who wakes up in a wrecked hotel room with no memory of the night before. It lands in UK and Irish cinemas from October 30.

As for the predictions, readers can pick their own scorelines alongside Sutton, Hannah and the AI. A correct result is worth 10 points, while the exact score earns 40. Can Arsenal bounce back at Anfield, or will the Fleetwood hangover linger? Hannah the fan is surely hoping for the former.
