What Is ‘The Substitute’ About?
“The Substitute” is a crime thriller about three young men whose conflicting desires and personal struggles lead them toward an irreversible crime on the day of the college entrance exam. At the center of the story is a top-ranking student from a low-income family who attends a prestigious private high school on a special scholarship — and is forced to take the exam on behalf of a blackmailer who knows his secret.
The Substitute New Stills: Nam Jae Yeong Caught in a Dangerous Deal
In the newly released stills, Nam Jae Yeong appears locked in a high-stakes confrontation with his co-stars, and the uneasy mood makes one thing clear: whatever deal binds these three young men together is already starting to fracture. Each character’s conflicting motives threaten to turn the alliance into a betrayal before the exam day even arrives.
Crime thrillers built around a single fateful day have become a reliable formula in recent K-dramas, and “The Substitute” looks ready to lean hard into that tension — three desperate students, one blackmailer, and a crime that can never be undone.
