Foldable Phone Wobbles on Tables? This 3D-Printed Folding Accessory Fixes It

Does your foldable phone wobble like a Weeble on a flat table? The culprit is the chunky off-center camera bump – some stick out nearly 5mm – and one DIY-minded writer just built a clever 3D-printed folding accessory to kill the wobble for good.

Why foldable phones wobble on tables – and why it matters

Most flagship Android phones of the last five years carry protruding, off-center camera bumps, so a phone laid flat rocks back and forth. Foldables have it worse: they’re meant to double as mini tablets on a coffee table, yet tablets almost never ship with giant camera bumps. Official thickness measurements don’t even include the bump, so the wobble comes as an unwelcome surprise.

The original fix, called the “De-Wobbler,” was a simple 3D-printed ring and bumper that snapped onto the camera of a Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra to balance the protrusion. It worked for a closed phone – but folding phones open up a new problem.

The folding De-Wobbler: how the new design works

Balancing a camera bump is simple: add something the same thickness on the opposite side. But on an opened foldable, “opposite” is the front cover screen – you can’t stick anything there. The new idea: make the De-Wobbler fold open along with the phone, stretching across the back when open and staying out of the way when closed.

The trick was the hinge. A normal hinge would halve the thickness when opened – too thin to match the camera bump. The redesigned De-Wobbler for the Pixel 11 Pro Fold uses a nesting hinge: the folding half wraps around the static half so the accessory stays at full camera-bump thickness whether the phone is opened or closed, while keeping the whole thing slim.

If you’re handy with a 3D printer and tired of the wobble, this is one of the smartest DIY phone fixes we’ve seen – hinged solutions for hinged problems.
