Kuch Kuch Hota Hai 30th anniversary screening details

The 1998 classic starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol and Rani Mukerji – with a memorable extended appearance by Salman Khan – launched Johar’s career as a director and became one of Bollywood’s most beloved films of all time. The Edinburgh screening will celebrate three decades of the romance that gave audiences Rahul, Anjali and Tina.

Johar received the festival invitation earlier this week at a meeting he hosted at the Mumbai offices of Dharma Productions, attended by Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney and Screen Scotland interim executive director David Smith.

Scotland courts Indian film and TV

The talks went beyond the anniversary screening: they centered on Scotland as a location and partner for Indian film and TV, covering production and co-production opportunities as well as talent development and cultural exchange. It’s a sign of how Indian cinema’s global footprint keeps expanding – and of a fittingly international stage for one of Bollywood’s most iconic films to celebrate 30 years.
