Cody Rhodes is doubling down on his suit game — and abandoning polos for good. The American Nightmare revealed on the Double Coverage Podcast that he got roasted by his wife Brandi Rhodes, Matt Cardona, and Chelsea Green for wearing “too fancy of a polo.”

Rhodes explained why he now wears suits all the time on television. The habit, he said, was stolen from “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair — wrestling’s first big-80s pro athlete with the jets, the flashing cash, and the high lifestyle.

Cody Rhodes On Stealing His Style From Ric Flair

“So much of what I do is more stolen from Ric than Dusty,” Rhodes admitted, tipping his cap to his father’s legendary rival. “I mean, what pro wrestler doesn’t want to steal from the greatest of all time? Nature Boy is the best.” The irony: his father Dusty Rhodes played the blue-collar common man, while Rhodes embraced the Flair-flash side.

He added that what some peers saw as performative became a real sense of pride. “It became this really great feeling. Felt professional… the classic case of dress for the job you want, I suppose. Now to the point where it’s all I have.”

The Polo That Got Cody Rhodes Shamed

The suit streak only broke when Rhodes tried polos for a day off look. “I got shamed because I bought some polos. You can’t just wear suits all the time. So I wore jeans and some polos,” he said. “Chelsea Green, Matt Cardona, and my wife shamed me for, I guess, it was too fancy of a polo. I don’t even know how you can go too fancy.”

The verdict is in: “I’m just going to go all suits, all the time now at this point. I couldn’t get it right.”

Rhodes is currently scheduled to appear on the November 4 edition of WWE NXT.
