Jun Kirarazaka has announced that his comedy manga Blobtopia (Buyotopia) will end in three chapters, closing out a short run on Shueisha’s Shonen Jump+ that began on March 13. The creator broke the news on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, adding that the chapter publishing on November 6 will be a side-story installment. (Credits: SHUEISHA Inc.)
The announcement marks another quick finish for Kirarazaka, whose previous serials have all run for relatively short stretches. Blobtopia debuted on Shueisha’s digital Shonen Jump+ service earlier this year and recently saw its second compiled book volume ship on September 4.
Blobtopia Story and Ending Details
MANGA Plus publishes the series in English and describes its offbeat premise: after failing to defeat the Demon King, former hero Beyond accidentally floods the world with “blobs.” Guilt-ridden, he shuts himself away for years until a turning point finally arrives. The series is billed as an over-the-top “Hero vs. Society Life” comedy from Kirarazaka, who previously created Do Retry.
With only three chapters left, the manga’s total run will span roughly eight months — a compact lifespan that fits the pattern of Kirarazaka’s recent work. His earlier series Bone Collection ran in Weekly Shonen Jump from April 2020 to August 2020, while Do Retry debuted in May 2023 and wrapped that September. Both were published digitally in English by Viz Media and MANGA Plus.
What This Means for Shonen Jump+ Readers
Readers can still catch up on the series through MANGA Plus, which carries the manga in English. The November 6 side-story chapter will likely serve as a bonus epilogue of sorts before the final chapters bring Beyond’s blob-filled saga to a close. Fans of Kirarazaka’s gag-heavy style will want to read through before the series concludes.
