T.O.P Apologizes After 20-Year Fan Site CHOIDOT Shuts Down
CHOIDOT had supported T.O.P since August 24, 2006 — but it ceased operations on October 9. The closure came amid reports of T.O.P and his agency’s evasion of responsibility and neglect of fans, and his agency later issued an official statement following the shutdown.
In his apology, T.O.P wrote: “Even at moments when I myself found it hard to believe in me, you believed in me and always gave me warm hearts and precious support, which gave me the strength to make music again. I will never forget the sincere feelings of the fans for the rest of my life.”
He continued, “The CHOIDOT staff have shown devoted love for the longest time, more than anyone else, and have been a big pillar of support. I hope that their time, effort, and sincerity will not be overshadowed by misunderstandings and speculations but will remain in their full meaning.”
Can the Delayed Apology Win Back Fans?
“I know the interest and love you send are never something to be taken for granted, so I will carry lifelong gratitude deep in my heart,” T.O.P added. “I sincerely apologize to the staff and fans who were hurt and misunderstood.”
The timing adds another layer: T.O.P publicly announced his relationship with Nana, former After School member, on October 2, just days before the fan site closed. Now, after three weeks of controversy, there is keen interest in whether his delayed apology can mend the hearts of fans who have turned away.
