Bartlet Fairy Basslet: a ‘hack and slash fantasy epic’

The series debuted simultaneously in Japan on Shonen Jump+ and in English on MANGA Plus on November 1, 2026. The English synopsis describes it as a “hack and slash fantasy epic”, and early readers say it carries the dark fantasy DNA that made Claymore a classic.

The story centers on Brunhilde, a legendary warrior princess who put an end to a decade of war after defeating her sworn enemy, Luchsnase. But what should have been the end of her tale turns out to be only the beginning, as mysterious glowing fish begin raining down from the sky and a new adventure unfolds.

Yagi’s long road back to Shonen Jump

Yagi’s original Claymore ran from 2001 to 2014, with Viz Media publishing the 27-volume saga in North America. His follow-up serialization, Ariadne in the Blue Sky, ran from 2017 to 2023 and wrapped up with its 22nd and final volume. The new series marks his return to a Shueisha Jump platform after more than a decade.

The first chapter is free to read on MANGA Plus and the Shonen Jump app, giving fans a no-risk way to check out Yagi’s latest dark fantasy world from day one.
