Edgerunners 2 Showrunner Addresses V Cameo, Canon Ending, and Season 3 in New Interview

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 showrunner Bartosz Sztybor has sat down with IGN to tackle the biggest questions fans have after the new Netflix season — including whether V appears, if Cyberpunk 2077 has a canon ending, and whether Season 3 could happen.

Is V in Edgerunners 2? The Showrunner Answers

Eagle-eyed fans spotted what looked like a tease for V in the new season, and the interview put that theory directly to Sztybor, who writes, produces, and runs the anime. Season 2 is set in 2078, just one year after the events of the main game, which makes the timing of any V appearance an especially loaded question for fans trying to piece together what it implies for the timeline.

Does Cyberpunk 2077 Have a Canon Ending?

If V really is in the show, the follow-up question is unavoidable: does that mean CD Projekt considers one of Cyberpunk 2077’s endings canon, and is that ending now the jumping-off point for every post-game spinoff like Edgerunners 2? Sztybor fielded the question at the Lucca Comics and Games festival, doing his best to answer without giving too much of the game away.

What About Edgerunners Season 3 and the Cyberpunk Movie

The interview also looked beyond Season 2. The Cyberpunk universe is expanding further, with Cyberpunk 2 currently in development (its setting and time period are still unannounced) and a live-action film in the works — one that, according to CD Projekt, will not simply retrace the steps of the game. Whether Night City’s anime story continues for a third season remains one of the biggest open questions.
