The wild weekend saw two games settled in overtime, the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs stunned by late fightbacks, and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers claiming victory without completing a single pass.

Vikings Lose Unbeaten Record as Lions, Broncos, Steelers Take Charge

Minnesota put its 6-0 record on the line at NFC North rivals the Detroit Lions, who won 19-15 to halt the Vikings’ unbeaten start. Jahmyr Gibbs ran for 153 yards and a touchdown as Detroit (5-2) prevailed in a key divisional battle.

The Denver Broncos (6-2) replaced the Kansas City Chiefs (5-2) atop the AFC West after coming from 11 points down in the final quarter to win 28-24. Patrick Mahomes threw for three touchdowns and 321 yards, but Denver’s defense made a goal-line stand at the death. The Jacksonville Jaguars (5-2) now lead the AFC South after a 42-7 romp over the Indianapolis Colts, while the Pittsburgh Steelers (6-2) beat the Cleveland Browns 26-7 to go top of the AFC North.

Joe Burrow’s Historic Night and Lamar Jackson’s Injury Blow

Joe Burrow became the first player in 75 years — and only the second ever after Norm Van Brocklin’s 554-yard game in 1951 — to record more than 450 passing yards, five touchdown passes and a rushing touchdown in a single game, as the Bengals edged the Tennessee Titans 43-36 in overtime. Burrow was intercepted three times by Amani Hooker but still became the first quarterback in NFL history to register a 70% completion percentage plus touchdown passes in three consecutive games.

Two former MVPs went head-to-head as Lamar Jackson returned from three games out with an ankle injury — but the duel with Josh Allen was ruined within moments when Jackson injured his right thumb on the game’s first snap. Back-up Tyler Huntley was then ruled out with a toe injury, forcing the Ravens to finish with undrafted rookie Joe Fagnano at quarterback in a 36-10 loss to Buffalo. Jackson could miss the rest of the season as he is set to undergo surgery; the Ravens have lost three straight and sit at 4-4.
