Olivia Rodrigo is getting into the holiday spirit: the pop star will release her first-ever Christmas song, “Take Me Home (4 Christmas),” on Thursday at 5 p.m. PT, accompanied by a music video co-starring “Sex and the City” icon Cynthia Nixon and “Saturday Night Live” breakout Ben Marshall. The track was written with Rodrigo’s frequent collaborators Dan Nigro and Amy Allen, with Nigro also producing. Alongside the single and video, fans can also pick up a 7-inch vinyl and cassette, available for pre-order now on Target’s website and in stores on Friday.
Olivia Rodrigo’s Holiday Debut Comes After Billboard Success
The Christmas release arrives on a high for Rodrigo, whose “You Seem Pretty Sad” recently returned to No. 1 on the Billboard 200. A holiday single is a well-worn pop-star tradition — but for an artist known for her angsty, confessional songwriting, seeing how Rodrigo approaches a Christmas song (and a star-studded music video with Nixon and Marshall) is part of the fun.
Whether “Take Me Home (4 Christmas)” lands on every holiday playlist or stays a one-off experiment, it’s a bold entry into the crowded Christmas-music canon for one of pop’s biggest names.
