Bollywood’s king of horror has a powerful new backer. Emraan Hashmi’s musical horror film “Rooh” has added Tips Films and Tips Music to its producing team, with Kumar Taurani boarding the project ahead of a 2027 theatrical release across the Hindi, Tamil and Telugu markets.

The film marks Hashmi’s return to horror after five years — the genre that made him one of the most recognisable faces of Indian horror cinema. A first look shared on Instagram earlier teased the project with the caption: “You won’t see it coming. You will feel it forever.”
Rooh Director, Writers and Producers
Mayank Sharma, the creator and director of Prime Video’s acclaimed Breathe franchise, directs “Rooh” from a screenplay he co-wrote with Vishal Kapoor (Lapachhapi, Chhorii). The film is produced by Vikram Khakhar and Sunny Khanna under the Vicked Films Productions banner, with Girissh Kumar also producing and Vikas Sahni as co-producer. The soundtrack will release on Tips Music.
Rooh Release Date and Why Tips Films Matters
Described as a large-scale theatrical spectacle, “Rooh” blends new-age horror, music and emotion, placing music at the very centre of its narrative. “Having Tips Films and Tips Music join us is a significant milestone,” the makers said, adding that the team is excited to bring an immersive horror experience to theatres in 2027.
The timing fits Hashmi perfectly: the actor was last seen in Haq alongside Yami Gautam, and his next release is Awarapan 2, the sequel to his 2007 cult classic. With a strong soundtrack planned and a director known for tense, emotional storytelling, “Rooh” is shaping up to be one of 2027’s most anticipated Hindi horror releases.
