Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil has officially landed on digital. The zombie blockbuster is now available to rent or purchase digitally from services like Prime Video, just over 45 days after its theatrical debut.

The move to digital comes after a truly monstrous box office run. Following a huge opening weekend, the Capcom adaptation climbed to the top of the highest-grossing video game movies of all time, crossing the $400 million mark at the global box office.
Resident Evil’s Digital Release Price and Netflix Plans
The film is now available to purchase digitally for $24.99. It is also up for preorder on DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K — though the DVD release still doesn’t have a confirmed date.
Looking further ahead, the film is set to eventually stream exclusively on Netflix, most likely in early 2027. That’s because Sony Pictures Entertainment, which distributes the movie, signed a new “Pay-1” deal with Netflix earlier this year. For now, though, digital purchase is the only way to watch from home.
From Disappointing Start to $400M Horror Milestone
The road to Resident Evil’s box office glory wasn’t smooth. Cregger himself has spoken about the disappointment around the film’s early performance, but word of mouth turned things around spectacularly. If the film picks up another $30 million, it has a chance of breaking into the top 10 highest-grossing horror movies of all time.
It’s a redemption story few saw coming — and exactly the kind of late-run surprise that makes horror fans cheer.
