Jon Moxley vs Shingo Takagi at Wrestle Kingdom 21: How the Brawl Started
The Death Riders — Jon Moxley and Wheeler Yuta — returned to New Japan Pro-Wrestling at the 2026 Power Struggle event, facing off against Unbound Co.’s Jeff Cobb and Shingo Takagi. It was Cobb who secured the win over Yuta.
After the bell, Moxley and Takagi brawled, with Takagi getting the better of the exchange and sending Moxley scrambling away. Takagi then delivered a ‘Death Rider’ DDT to Yuta — Moxley’s own signature move — before calling Moxley out for a singles match at Wrestle Kingdom 21 at the Tokyo Dome.
Tokyo Dome Stakes: Moxley’s First NJPW Singles Match in Over Two Years
The match marks Moxley’s first NJPW singles action in more than two years, after his first appearance back in the company since the Death Riders returned. Takagi, one of NJPW’s most decorated strong-style stars, gets a marquee Tokyo Dome showcase against one of wrestling’s biggest names.
With the Wrestle Kingdom 21 card taking shape — including Will Ospreay vs Callum Newman — January 4, 2027 is already looking stacked.
