Among his credits was additional editing on the 1970 documentary “Woodstock,” the film that captured the era-defining music festival for cinema audiences. That early credit placed him at the heart of one of the most famous concert films ever made.

He went on to edit George Miller’s “The Witches of Eastwick,” the dark fantasy comedy starring Jack Nicholson, Cher, Susan Sarandon and Michelle Pfeiffer. He also edited “Tango & Cash,” the buddy action film pairing Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell.

His other credits included “Highlander II: The Quickening,” “Mo’ Money,” “Doin’ Time,” “Blank Check” and “Celtic Pride.” He also served as editor on “Police Academy 5” and “Police Academy 6,” two instalments of the long-running comedy franchise.

A Career Behind the Camera

Editors rarely get the spotlight, but de la Bouillerie’s filmography shows a craftsman who moved comfortably between documentaries, comedies, fantasy and action. From Woodstock’s sprawling concert footage to the comic timing of Police Academy, his work touched very different kinds of filmmaking.

He was 75 at the time of his death in Los Angeles.
