Of all of World of Warcraft: Forever’s new dungeons, Excavation Site: Wetlands may be the shortest — but it’s a sweet one for lore fans. With links to the Dragonmaw Clan and the Titans, this three-boss instance is well worth a run. Here is everything you need to clear it.

Where to Find Excavation Site: Wetlands in WoW: Forever

The dungeon sits by Thelgen Rock in the southern Wetlands. You can pick up all its quests by level 24, but the major encounters are tough enough that level 26 or higher is recommended before heading in.

Alliance players have the easy route: take the rotating ship between Auberdine, Southshore and Menethil Harbor, hop off at Menethil, and run east across the Wetlands, then follow the path south. Horde players travel through Silverpine Forest into Hillsbrad Foothills, then down through the Arathi Highlands (stick to the road through the level 30-40 zone) into the Wetlands.

Once in the southern Wetlands, look for the cave entrance just above Dun Algaz — that’s Thelgen Rock. Skip the cave and follow the path just south of it upward into the camp. A meeting stone at the base of the trail confirms you’re in the right spot.

Despite feeling huge, the dungeon is super linear. Cut straight through the middle of the Lost Marsh (stick to the islands), then cruise through Stalker’s Thicket, the Lost Dig Site and finally the Site of the Guardian for the final boss. After the kill, drop down the hill behind the boss — no need to walk all the way back.

One warning matters more than any boss mechanic: do not walk through the tall grass in Stalker’s Thicket. It can spawn extra mobs and snowball into a group wipe. The paths are safe — stay on them, especially around the raptor boss Shadetooth. An addon like Atlas (with the Kalimdor & Eastern Kingdoms map pack) helps you track where you are in-game.
