Julian Hall becomes youngest player to score MLS hat-trick
Also in the Eastern Conference, Lionel Messi scored two goals and provided an assist as Inter Miami secured a 5-3 victory over Cincinnati to go second in the table, two points behind leaders Nashville.
The 38-year-old forward thought he had scored the 61st hat-trick of his career late on, but the MLS attributed the 89th-minute strike as an own goal by Cincinnati goalkeeper Roman Celentano.
It said the ball had rebounded off the post and was not initially crossing the line until Celentano made accidental contact, effectively turning the ball into his own net.
Argentine Messi now has 11 goals and four assists in 12 league appearances for Miami this season, while his overall career statistics stand at 909 goals and 411 assists.
Meanwhile, 16-year-old Cavan Sullivan scored his first MLS goal in bottom side Philadelphia Union’s 4-3 defeat by Orlando City.
Sullivan, who became the youngest ever MLS player two years ago, was a first-half substitute and scored in the 75th minute.
“Despite it not being the result we wanted, I’m grateful to have scored my first MLS goal,” he wrote on Instagram., external
“You fans deserve more and you will get more.”

West Ham: Katrina Gorry to leave at end of season
While at West Ham, Gorry has used her platform to discuss motherhood in women’s football, eating disorders and going through IVF (in vitro fertilization).
“It’s an emotional time to be leaving West Ham, but I know this is the right decision for me and my family,” said Gorry, who has two young children.
“I’ve enjoyed so many incredible moments over the last two and a half years, and captaining this team has been the greatest honour.
“West Ham is a special club with an incredible fanbase that always shows up. The fans have seen so much growth and I’m proud to have been part of that journey.
“I’ve felt at home ever since I arrived. I came here with a two-year-old daughter and I’m leaving east London with an even bigger family.
“I leave a better person and a better player, and for that I’ll always be grateful.”
Last year Gorry featured in all West Ham’s WSL matches as they set their highest points tally.
In 2025-26 she has made 18 appearances in all competitions and helped Australia reach the Women’s Asian Cup final.
“It has been a pleasure to work with Mini during my time at West Ham, even if it has been for a short period of time,” said manager Rita Guarino, who joined in December.
“Her experience, resilience and desire to win have been a real asset to the club and have helped drive this team forward.”

2026 PGA Championship watch guide: Tee times, TV info, picks for major at Aronimink
Spring is in the air, fairways are verdant as ever and major season is fully upon us. The PGA Championship commences from Aronimink Golf Club for the second time in tournament history, decades after it hosted Gary Player’s triumph in 1962. The field this year is deep and duly motivated.
Scottie Scheffler, still the world’s No. 1 golfer, returns as this event’s reigning champion. He lifted the Wanamaker Trophy with a five-stroke victory in 2025. Meanwhile, No. 2 Rory McIlroy arrives after last month’s dramatic Masters title.
Cameron Young seeks a third win in his last six starts. Jordan Spieth chases a career Grand Slam. Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau go for redemption amid the LIV Golf uncertainty. There’s so much to watch for across these next four days.
All times listed below are ET.

More details about the TV coverage
ESPN has wall-to-wall coverage of the first two rounds, split between its cable channels and its streaming app. The latter gets going early on Thursday and Friday — a 6:45 a.m. main feed, plus featured groups and a showcase stream for holes Nos. 15-17. Things shift to ESPN proper at noon, and Thursday’s final hour is on ESPN2 at 7 p.m.
Scott Van Pelt anchors the network’s presentation. David Duval, Dave Flemming, Geoff Ogilvy and Curtis Strange are all in tow for analysis. Ken Brown, William Kratzert, John Maginnes, Andy North and Suzy Whaley are among those reporting live from Aronimink.
The Saturday and Sunday rounds start on ESPN+ at 8 a.m., then go to ESPN two hours later. But the bulk of the weekend’s action lands over the air on CBS. Jim Nantz and Trevor Immelman take the mic at 1 p.m. and carry us through the evening.
This is CBS’ 36th consecutive year covering the PGA Championship. Andrew Catalon, Colt Knost and Frank Nobilo are special hole announcers. Amanda Balionis, Mark Immelman, Dottie Pepper and Johnson Wagner are the on-site reporters.
The players to know
Scheffler hits Thursday on a hot stretch, as we’ve come to expect from the top-ranked player in the world. He has three straight second-place finishes — the Masters, then the RBC Heritage, then the Cadillac Championship. Scheffler won last year’s tourney at 11 under par; he separated himself on moving day with three birdies and an eagle on the last five holes.
The formidable McIlroy won this year’s first major. He navigated a seesaw performance to rock Augusta’s green jacket for the second time in as many years. McIlroy put in more modest work in last weekend’s follow-up, finishing tied for 19th at the Truist Championship. He also cut Tuesday’s practice round short due to pain from a toe blister.
In the 2025 PGA Championship, McIlroy was done in by a 3-under first round at Quail Hollow. He tied for 47th alongside Robert MacIntyre and Young last year.
Currently, the 29-year-old Young is the FedEx Cup points leader off two 2026 wins — a momentous Players Championship statement in March and a Cadillac Championship title earlier this month. Thus far, only the standard-setting Scheffler has more PGA strokes gained than Young.
Among the many viable champs on the PGA Tour include Matt Fitzpatrick, who has three wins since March’s Valspar Championship, and Ludvig Åberg, who has five top-10 placements in his last six outings. Collin Morikawa comes in at fourth on the FedEx Cup points table, thanks to his win at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am and four other top-10 results.
Rahm and DeChambeau lead a group of 11 qualified LIV Golf players. Rahm’s primary exemption is his 2023 Masters win, while DeChambeau’s is his 2024 U.S. Open title.
Once again, Spieth pursues his career Grand Slam. He conquered the Masters and the U.S. Open in 2015, then added the Open Championship two years later. Though he finished second at the 2015 PGA Championship, this last major has given him considerable trouble — since a tie for third in 2019, Spieth hasn’t cracked the top 25 across his last six tries. He missed the cut by one shot in 2025.
