Sebastian Stan Drops Hints About ‘The Batman: Part Two’

Published

on

Sebastian Stan is carefully talking about his mysterious role in The Batman: Part II.

“It’s one of the most challenging situations I’ve been involved in,” the Captain America: The Winter Soldier actor told the Happy Sad Confused podcast in an episode published Monday. “I feel like it’s hard to talk about it without it becoming some speculative thing from some corner. I think it’s a very ambitious thing, and I hope it lands right. I have a lot of faith in it, because I just do feel like [director Matt Reeves] is truly a genius of our time, and one of the very few people that I think is so unique and so specific. And he has been at this for three years. I mean, it’s not an accident. He knows what he’s doing. And so I’m just happy to be part of that vision.”

“I just think it’s going to be great,” he added. “This is definitely, for me, feeling like something very different than I’ve gotten to do. And that’s what I love, and I’m excited about.”

Stan has been rumored to play the iconic Gotham City district attorney Harvey Dent (also known as Two-Face) in the film, but that’s not confirmed.

The actor also discussed how he landed the role in the first place, saying he “poked the bear” by nudging DC Studios co-chief James Gunn, and didn’t expect to get the part given his longtime association with the MCU.

“The DC thing was honestly always sort of a kind of like a joke in my mind,” he said. “I was like, ‘there’s no way that I’m ever going to end up [on a DC Studios film]’ … [But] Matt had seen The Apprentice and really liked the film and my work in that. And then that inspired a conversation. Subsequently, around the same time, I was kind of poking the bear a bit over there with James Gunn, going, ‘I think we should figure something out.’”

The comments come as production on The Batman: Part II in London pauses temporarily while director Matt Reeves takes some time to deal with a personal family matter. “Matt has the full support of DC Studios and we look forward to continuing the journey soon,” a studio spokesperson said.

The Batman: Part II stars Robert Pattinson as Bruce Wayne/Batman. In addition to Stan, the production has also added fellow MCU veteran Scarlett Johansson in an undisclosed role. The film currently has a release date of Feb. 18, 2028.

Skeet Ulrich On Not Completing ‘Scream’ “Three-Film Arc”: “Without Melissa Barrera & Sam Loomis, There’s No Billy Loomis”

Published

on

Skeet Ulrich was supposed to have a three-film arc in the Scream franchise, but that all changed when Melissa Barrera was fired over her pro-Palestine views.

Ulrich, who was one of the OG Ghostfaces in the thriller, reprised his role in the fifth and sixth installments as a hallucination to his daughter, Sam Loomis, played by Barrera. When Barrera was dropped from Scream 7, the film was retooled and did so without Ulrich and Barrera’s characters.

“Without Melissa Barrera and Sam Loomis, there’s no Billy Loomis,” Ulrich said in an interview with Us Weekly. “He was in her head. They had their chance at it and didn’t quite get to complete the three-film arc that they talked to me about.”

Scream 7 was retooled after Spyglass fired Melissa Barrera in November 2023 after she expressed support for Palestinians in the Israel-Hamas war. The production company behind the film said in a statement that they had “zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form” and dropped her.

Matthew Lillard recently expressed being “embarrassed” for having returned to the Scream franchise following Barrera’s firing.

Barrera also recently revealed that she would be open to returning to the franchise, but only if Spyglass was not involved.

“Not with the company that currently holds the rights,” she said on JustWatch. “I love the franchise. I had an amazing time making those movies. But a lot of the hate and the difficulty that I’ve faced in the last years is because the leadership of that company made it a point to label me something that I’m not, and they never apologized, even when I was proven right.”

Barrera continued, “Even with an apology, I wouldn’t go back to work with them. So, not that I’m holding my breath. I don’t think they have that ability. But if the franchise were ever to leave those hands and go into hands that I think honor Wes Craven’s legacy more, I think yeah.”

Ben Shapiro Issues Statement On ‘Pawn Shop’ Production Shutdown

Published

on

Ben Shapiro has officially responded to the recent shutdown of production on his immigration-themed Daily Wire movie Pawn Shop, which is now back in production in Livingston, Montana.

In an appearance on his podcast The Ben Shapiro Show, Shapiro said, “Let us be clear: there’s only one reason the city commissioners ruled they were going to stop our production on the street: politics, pure and simple, and they pretty much admitted it. One commissioner named Cindy Daniels said, quote, ‘I’m not willing to sacrifice the resources of the safety, the security of the mental health of our community. Absolutely not. This wasn’t a Hallmark film. This wasn’t, you know, Christmastime in Livingston, and it wasn’t a romantic story.’”

To that assertion, Shapiro replied, “Well, I mean, I wasn’t aware that we had to fulfill your idea of what the story required. In fact, I’m fairly certain the First Amendment says precisely the opposite of that… That is content discrimination openly performed and a violation of the First Amendment.”

The conservative political commentator later said: “These people are not even hiding the ball. These censorious jackasses just want things they do not like barred by law. It is that simple. They don’t give a sh*t about free speech. They don’t like free speech. Free speech is just for them. It is not for the people who oppose them.”

Alluding to “made up stories” regarding his production “from a bunch of left-wing protesters,” Shapiro said that the more they’re entertained, “the more justified our mission proves itself to be. We are obviously right over the target. When you try to shout us down, you only make us more powerful. Your antics are not going to work. The film will be completed and it will be released and it will be highly successful. We call those feathers in our cap. Trophies over our mantle.”

André Holland Joins Universal’s ‘Miami Vice ’85’

Published

on

EXCLUSIVE: André Holland (Moonlight, The Knick) is the latest to join the all-star cast of Universal’s Miami Vice ’85, led by Michael B. Jordan and Austin Butler. A character description for Holland is under wraps.

From screenwriter Dan Gilroy and director Joseph Kosinski, Miami Vice ’85 explores the glamour and corruption of mid-1980s Miami in an all-new version of the hit series Miami Vice. The film is inspired by the pilot episode of the landmark 1984-90 NBC series titled “Brother’s Keeper,” which aired September 16, 1984.

The previously announced cast includes Alden Ehrenreich, Whitney Peak, Camila Morrone, John Leguizamo, Danny Ramirez and Walton Goggins.

Written by series creator Anthony Yerkovich, the two-hour premiere of Miami Vice introduced the world to Vice cop Sonny Crockett (Don Johnson) and New York detective Ricardo Tubbs (Phillip Michael Thomas), who are brought together by destiny, though they did not really vibe at first. They eventually become partners, but first they investigate Colombian drug lord Calderone (Miguel Piñero), the show’s main antagonist across Season 1.

In the episode, it’s revealed that Tubbs’ beef with Calderone runs deep and is the reason why the former is in Miami. He wants revenge for his slain brother, who was taken down after the cartel leader put out a hit on his life. Despite first appearances, Crockett and Tubbs decide they want to work together, taking down bad guys in the Magic City and having some fun in between.

Aside from the Crockett and Tubbs intro, the episode is famously known for a driving scene where the duo is in Crockett’s black Ferrari Daytona Spyder while listening to Phil Collins’ song In the Air Tonight.

Also notable, though not from this episode, John Leguizamo portrayed Calderone’s son Orlando twice in the series. Leguizamo will also star in Miami Vice ’85, though it is as yet unknown if he will reprise the role of Orlando.

The movie will be filmed for IMAX and is set for release on May 19, 2028. Production will begin this year.

The film is produced by Dylan Clark/Dylan Clark Productions (The Batman, The Penguin) and Kosinski (F1). Dan Gilroy is writing the script, based on characters created by Yerkovich from the series executive-produced by Yerkovich and Michael Mann. Eric Warren Singer wrote an earlier draft of the screenplay.

Holland is represented by WME and Anonymous Content.
