Yukari Takinami’s manga Watashitachi wa Mutsū Renai ga Shitai: Kagi Aka Joshi to Hoshikuzu Danshi to Femi Ojisan is getting a live-action net adaptation. The news broke via the wraparound jacket band on the manga’s ninth compiled volume, which shipped on Thursday. Further details, including the cast and streaming home, will be revealed at a later date.

What the ‘We Want a Painless Romance’ Manga Is About
The manga centers on Minami, a woman who can only express her true feelings through a private social media account. Fed up with fulfilling the traditional role of a “woman” — getting bumped into by strangers on the street and treated roughly by good-looking “stardust men” who turn out to be trash — she crosses paths with an older “feminist uncle” who changes her perspective.
The series launched on Kodansha’s &Sofa manga website when it opened in November 2021, and the first volume followed in 2022. The ninth volume’s announcement confirms the story’s growing audience has earned it a live-action screen treatment.
What to Expect From the Live-Action Adaptation
No staff or cast have been announced yet, and it is not yet known which streaming platform will host the net show. Takinami’s previous manga, Motokare Mania (Ex-Enthusiasts), also made the jump to live action with a television series adaptation in October 2019, so the creator has a track record of stories that translate well to screen.
With only the volume-9 wraparound band as the announcement so far, fans should watch for the official social channels and Comic Natalie for the first casting news and key visuals in the coming weeks.
