Cody Rhodes has no plans to choose between the ring and the screen. Speaking to Chris Van Vliet on Insight, the WWE star said his plan is to do both acting and wrestling — because times have changed: “It’s not like it used to be, where you can only do one.”

Rhodes has already started building that double career. He appeared in The Naked Gun and stars as Guile in the Street Fighter movie, which hit theaters on October 16, 2026. He told Van Vliet this year should bring more announcements and more roles, saying he wants to “flex that muscle” and get better at the craft.
Cody Rhodes: Wrestling Plan Is 6-7 More Years
On the wrestling side, Rhodes recently revealed he re-signed with WWE and intends to finish his career there — estimating six to seven more years in the ring, while not wanting to “overstay his welcome.” WWE’s willingness to let him step away for film projects and return has been key: he can take a movie role, then come back home.
It is the modern playbook pioneered by John Cena and The Rock — but where previous generations had to pick a lane, Rhodes believes today’s WWE lets its stars do both.
What’s Next for Cody Rhodes?
With Street Fighter now out and a new long-term WWE deal in place, Rhodes says he wants this year to feature more than one film project. Expect more announcements on his acting future while he continues as one of WWE’s top stars on the road to WrestleMania season.
