IGN has weighed in on the final four episodes of Avatar: Seven Havens “Book 1: Survival” (Episodes 10-13), and reviewer Alex Zalben calls the animated series a worthy successor to Last Airbender and Legend of Korra — even as the finale delivers one of the darkest, most upsetting endings in the franchise’s history.

The review, posted October 30, centers on the twin sisters at the heart of the story, Pavi (voiced by Saheli Khan) and Nisha (Aishu Devan). After a season of mysteries — how are there two Avatars, what did Korra do to cause the Cataclysm — the finale lands hardest on what the season was always really about: the twins’ relationship with each other.
The Seven Chakras Are Tied to Pavi
One of the season’s biggest reveals is that the Seven Chakras, which coincide with the Seven Havens, are directly tied to Pavi. The Faceless Queen Agam (Sakina Jaffrey) discovers during a spiritual alignment in Episode 11, “Battle of the Ruins,” that Pavi’s chakras are all disrupted. In the finale, “The Root Chakra,” Pavi faces her fear of being revealed as the Avatar and unlocks her Root Chakra alone.
The review also drops a major spoiler: it was Nisha who summoned the fear that killed their parents, with Pavi protected by green energy that cost her her leg. Pavi single-handedly dispels the fear and begins reconnecting with past Avatars, charting her path toward her next destination, the Floating Isles.
A Heartbreaker With Hope and Humor
Despite the dark ending, IGN notes the finale still finds room for hope, heart, and humor, and moves the season-long mysteries forward — including what is needed to heal the world — with threads set to run all the way through Book 4.
