Death Stranding Isolations Trailer: “My Mom Became a Crater”

The news arrived in a Kojima Productions post late on October 29 (the morning of October 30 in Japan). The trailer opens on a girl with blonde hair, roused from sleep by dreams of being consumed by the tar, over a chilling quote: “My mom became a crater.”

Isolations is promised to be an original story driven by its “own unique ensemble of characters,” which suggests series staples like Sam Porter Bridges and Fragile won’t be the major players this time around. No exact streaming date has been given yet.

Directed by Takayuki Sano, Written by Tow Ubukata

The series is directed by Takayuki Sano, whose credits include animation direction on Attack on Titan’s final season and episodes of Jujutsu Kaisen and Jujutsu Kaisen 0, plus creature and prop design across major anime. Series composition and screenplay come from noted science fiction author Tow Ubukata, whose work spans Psycho-Pass 3, Psycho-Pass: Providence, Ghost in the Shell: The New Movie and Shenmue.

With that pedigree, the Death Stranding universe looks set to expand in a big way when Isolations lands on Disney+ in 2027.
