Kenny Omega is one step closer to the IWGP Heavyweight Championship. At NJPW Power Struggle 2026 on November 3, Omega put away champion Yota Tsuji with the One Winged Angel in a non-title three-way match that also featured Oleg Boltin.

The stipulation was clear: if Omega won, he earned a shot at Tsuji’s title — and he wants it at Wrestle Kingdom 21 in the Tokyo Dome.

Omega secured the fall directly on the champion, sending a statement to the rest of the heavyweight division. Post-match, he declared that if no one else steps up to challenge for the belt, he will take his title match at the Tokyo Dome on January 4 — and added that if he wins the IWGP Heavyweight Title, he will be wrestling in Japan more.

It is a dream-match setup months in the making: Omega, the former IWGP Heavyweight Champion who built his legend in NJPW, against Tsuji, the current standard-bearer. Yota Tsuji himself recently praised Omega for “earning” his NJPW title shot the hard way.

The result adds the biggest name yet to the Wrestle Kingdom 21 picture, with Jon Moxley vs Shingo Takagi and Will Ospreay vs Callum Newman also announced. Omega’s return to the Tokyo Dome main event scene would be one of the most anticipated title matches in recent memory.
