After six years of silence, Riot Games’ virtual K-pop girl group K/DA has stormed back onto the scene. The League of Legends-themed group dropped its comeback single “Firestarter” as a surprise release, complete with a stunning music video from the animation studio behind Arcane — and the numbers are already on fire.

The single leads K/DA’s new EP, set to arrive on October 21, which will mark the group’s second major release since All Out in 2020. Originally scheduled for October 20, “Firestarter” dropped a day early following leaks teasing the group’s return — and fans pounced immediately. The music video racked up over 4.3 million views on YouTube in just nine hours.
Fortiche Delivers Another Masterpiece
Behind the “Firestarter” video is Fortiche, the French animation studio whose partnership with Riot stretches back to the original “Pop/Stars” video in 2018. The two companies have since built one of animation’s most celebrated creative partnerships, most notably with Arcane, the critically acclaimed series set in the League of Legends universe. With Fortiche involved, the animation quality was never in doubt — and the studio delivers once again with a cinematic showcase worthy of the group’s comeback.
A New Era, New Voices
The lineup brings back MIYEON and SOYEON of i-dle, while Sophie Powers and Mimi Webb join as new voices for this latest era. Past collaborators have included Madison Beer and Jaira Burns, while Seraphine — who joined the group for “More” in 2020, voiced by Lexie Liu — is notably absent from the new release.
Behind the track are producers Kill Dave and Sebastien Najand, the composer often regarded as one of the architects of K/DA’s sound, having worked on the group’s music since its inception. Six years after “All Out,” the queens are back — and this time, they’re bringing Firestarter.
