Samantha Irvin says everyone has had her WWE exit story wrong for two years. She did not leave WWE to chase a music career, she says — in fact, she turned down a record deal from the company, because what she actually wanted was to manage wrestlers.

Irvin addressed the story directly on social media, pushing back on the idea that music was behind her October 2024 departure. According to her, WWE was willing to help her go down the music road, but she had no interest in making it her next career move.

Samantha Irvin turned down WWE record deal to manage wrestlers

“WWE offered me a record deal, to which I politely declined because I have no interest in the music business! My interest was in managing wrestlers. And that’s all I’ve ever expressed,” Irvin wrote.

She did release some music after leaving WWE, but she says people read far too much into it. The songs, she explained, were made for fun with former Cirque du Soleil colleagues and released independently for fans who already knew her as a singer — not as the launch of a music career.

“I made some songs last year for fun and videos with my colleagues from Cirque du Soleil and released independently for my singing fans from before wrestling but other than that, I made no proclamations about or efforts towards a ‘music’ career,” she wrote.

Irvin also pointed out that she had little left to prove as a singer in any case. “Singing career wise, I’ve had a fantastic one, though! Saw the world multiple times over,” she wrote. When one fan pushed back, saying that was not what people heard when she originally left, Irvin fired back simply: “The only thing I said was that I wanted to be a manager.”

Why Samantha Irvin’s WWE exit story was reported differently

The confusion is understandable, because a very different story circulated after Irvin left WWE in October 2024. Bryan Alvarez reported at the time that she had outside projects she wanted to pursue but could not make them work alongside her WWE schedule. Dave Meltzer also reported that Irvin had been thinking about leaving for nearly a year because she wanted to focus more on music, noting that she sings and plays the flute.

Two years later, Irvin is flatly saying that was not what she was trying to do. Her version is consistent and simple: she wanted to be a manager, WWE offered music instead, and she said no.

The timing of her clarification is notable. Fightful Select recently reported that her two-year WWE non-compete is coming to an end this month, while AEW has already discussed the possibility of using her in an on-screen role. With that restriction lifting, the question now is whether Irvin will finally get the chance to become the wrestling manager she says she has wanted all along.

After two years of people talking about Irvin supposedly leaving wrestling behind for music, she has now told fans that was never the plan. The next chapter, if it comes, may finally be the one she actually asked for.
