Behind the scenes, the series is in strong hands. Takahiro Kamei (the 2022-2024 Urusei Yatsura remake) directs at david production, with Yukiko Aikei designing the characters and Yuko Kakihara overseeing and writing the series scripts. What Is Firefly Wedding About?
The story follows Satoko Kirigaya, a beautiful nobleman’s daughter at a prime age for marriage — with one devastating catch. She is gravely ill and has only a short time left to live. Before she can secure a marriage that will redeem her worth in her family’s eyes, she becomes the target of the mysterious assassin Shinpei Goto. In desperation, she proposes to him — a proposal of marriage — and Shinpei, true to his word, takes “until death do we part” very seriously.
Tachibana launched the manga on Shogakukan’s Manga ONE app in January 2023, and the 13th compiled volume shipped on October 19. Viz Media publishes the manga in English. A live-action television adaptation is also in the works, slated to debut in 2027.
