Kyuri Yamada’s New Manga Nanabun no Survivor Story Details

The story follows Naoya, a high school student who considers himself “useless” because he struggles with the mundane things everyone else seems to handle with ease. While confiding his frustrations to a friend in Shibuya, a catastrophic earthquake strikes and his already difficult daily life is turned upside down.

The premise marks a shift for Yamada, whose previous works explored artificial intelligence and humanity’s future. This time, the drama comes from something far more real: surviving a disaster when ordinary life was already hard enough.

Nanabun no Survivor Release Schedule and Platforms

After its Monday debut on Comic Days, the manga will also begin serialization on Kodansha’s YanMaga Web platform starting November 16. The dual-platform release gives readers two ways to follow Naoya’s story from the very first chapter.

Yamada originally launched AI no Idenshi in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shonen Champion magazine back in November 2015, wrapping it in August 2017 across eight volumes. The series inspired a television anime in July 2023, and its AI no Idenshi RED QUEEN sequel ran from 2017 to 2019 in five volumes. A second sequel, AI no Idenshi Blue Age, launched in July 2020 and ended in October 2024.

Why AI no Idenshi Fans Should Watch This Launch

With three serialized series and an anime adaptation under his belt, Yamada has built a loyal following among readers who enjoy grounded sci-fi and emotional storytelling. An earthquake survival drama from the mind behind AI no Idenshi is one of the most intriguing manga launches of the season.
