What Is Phantom Busters About?
Phantom Busters is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Neoshoco. It has been serialized in Shueisha’s Jump Square since August 2023, while VIZ Media began publishing the English version in October 2025. The manga has surpassed 1.4 million copies in circulation, including digital editions.
The story follows Mogari, Eugene, and new recruit Kaoru Kanzaki, who are searching for a fourth member for their club. They set their sights on Kotaro Tamon, a classmate who seems able to talk to ghosts. Unfortunately, Kotaro has major problems communicating with living humans, which sets up the series’ blend of supernatural mystery and comedy. Whether Kotaro can overcome his anxiety and join the Phantom Busters is the heart of the story.
With a proven manga behind it and a strong production team, the 2027 anime is shaping up to be one to watch for fans of supernatural stories with a comedic edge. More details on the cast and premiere date are expected as the release window approaches.
